Pool Timers Installation

Precision direct time switch replacements (movements only) are so easy to install;
the only tool required is a screwdriver. No need to remove or replace the existing enclosure — just follow these instructions.

1. Turn power to pool timer off. Safest and easiest way is to switch off the appropriate breaker in the electrical distribution panel box.

2. Remove insulated wire cover from the pool timer and disconnect the wires. It is most important to mark the wires or if color coded, to note where each wire came from. Each terminal board has numbers on their screw terminals and these should match the manufacturer’s electrical label on the inside of the front enclosure door. Note line, load and neutral terminals and wires.

3. Remove the inoperative pool timer movement from the box. Each manufacturer has its own method of doing this. Basically, the movement slides in so there is some side or top support from the enclosure and then snaps into position with a spring loaded clip or bracket. Note exactly how the clock you are removing is mounted.

4. Install the Precision pool timer replacement movement in the reverse sequence as #3, (above).

5. Compare the old electrical wiring diagram on the cover door with the Precision wiring diagram provided. Rewire the pool timer noting where line, load and neutral terminals are. Tighten down screws in each terminal so wire is secure. Replace insulator cover over wiring section of the terminal board.

6. Follow the instructions for setting the pool timer to operate as follows:

Our terminal is furnished with (2) sets of on/off trippers. Unless you are going to turn on & off twice in a 24 hour period, only one set is necessary. Since you are replacing a pool timer, you should probably set the on/off trippers to the time schedule you have been successfully using. Loosen up thumb screw in tripper and slide around dial to the time location desired. Note black tripper is “off” and silver color for “on”. Tighten screw in trippers (both on & off). Pull dial out and rotate so time of day on dial is positioned under center pointer, and let dial snap back into running position. Check clock slider in regard to on and off switch position. Slide into proper position.

7. Turn power panel breaker on and you are back in operation.
